Quakers in Britain are continuing to monitor the crisis around North and South Korea.

In April, the Northern Friends Peace Board (NFPB) wrote to Theresa May, prime minister, and Boris Johnson, foreign secretary, urging the government to do its utmost to use diplomatic and non-military approaches to de-escalate the tensions.  NFPB said nuclear warfare ‘cannot and must not be an acceptable way of dealing with issues in the twenty-first century’.

A minute from Meeting for Sufferings in February said: ‘Humanity needs leaders of integrity and conscience, ready to be held to account by individuals and institutions, national and international.’

NOBODY benefits.
