The 'Disarm the Base' board game has reached its minimum fundraising goal

Quaker and former Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM) employee Jessica Metheringham has received enough pledges for her new board game Disarm the Base to be produced. With a minimum goal of £5,000, the game had to have 173 people pledging to pay £29 through Kickstarter for the game to be made.

Jessica Metheringham told the Friend how happy she was to have raised enough money: ‘One of my aims is to challenge the standard “fight or farm” narrative in boardgames, and to make something which makes people think. The inspiration came from Sam Walton and Daniel Woodhouse breaking into a base to disarm planes bound for Yemen. It was a great action which fits neatly into a game.’

A prototype of the board game will also be on display at Art the Arms Fair.
