Twelve Friends attended Winchmore Hill Meeting House on 24 February for a workshop with Quaker author Stephen Cox. The debut novelist of Our Child of the Stars talked about the link between Quaker silence and creativity.

He told the Friend: ‘I’m trying to reflect on the links between creativity and the Spirit. Is the inspiration we feel in Meeting the same inspiration we feel in writing a poem?’

He is interested in what prompts the discipline involved in working on a long-term goal, such as writing a book: ‘It’s almost like taking on a concern.’
