Quaker art in exhibition with Design Museum protesters
Art by Friends included in the 'From Nope to Hope' exhibition
The Quaker artist Jill Gibbon was among the artists included in an exhibition made up of work withdrawn from the Design Museum’s ‘Hope to Nope’ exhibition.
The counter-exhibition ‘From Nope to Hope’ showcased over thirty artworks removed by the artists after the Design Museum hosted an event for one of the world’s biggest defence companies. ‘From Nope to Hope’ was held at Brixton Recreation Centre in London from 15 to 30 September.
The show also included work by Quaker Linda Murgatroyd, as well as art by Shepard Fairey, Jeremy Deller, the Guerrilla Girls, Tania Bruguera and Milton Glaser.
Jill Gibbon, who masquerades as an arms dealer to gain access to arms trade events, has also had a book published by Beam Editions: The Etiquette of the Arms Trade: Undercover Drawings.
