QSA launches ‘Cook Up’
Scheme provides free-to-use cooking space in Islington for people without kitchens.
Quaker Social Action (QSA)’s new project, ‘Cook Up’, is now up and running in London. The scheme involves free-to-use cooking space in Islington for people without kitchens. This includes people who are sofa-surfing or homeless, sleeping in a hostel or a night shelter or a B&B, or otherwise living in conditions that affect their health or leave them at risk of violence or abuse at home. The scheme also offers access to ingredients and nutritional advice, and a space to enjoy the meal at the end of the session. It welcome refugees and asylum seekers.
Giles Robinson, the communications manager for QSA, told the Friend: ‘We are also looking for new volunteers for Turn a Corner – the mobile library for people affected by homelessness. This project will be up and running soon.’
