Quaker Homeless Action (QHA) has backed a campaign calling for free public showers to be installed in London to ‘enhance the wellbeing of those who sleep rough’. The petition was started on Change.org by Sarah Lamptey, who volunteers at a shelter. Katie Calvert, from QHA told the Friend it is supporting the petition because ‘the difference that one shower can make is something we are all familiar with. People that are homeless face a lot of stigmatisation. One way to help would be with a shower and this is something that precious few day centres or shelters can offer’.
