QARN signs up to refugee letter

QARN has joined others in writing to David Cameron

by Tara Craig 21st November 2014

The Quaker Asylum and Refugee Network (QARN) has signed a letter to David Cameron, criticising the withdrawal of UK support for the refugee rescue operation in the Mediterranean.

The letter was the work of the Jewish Council for Racial Equality, which has called on people of faith to add their signatures. QARN signed as a network and a number of Friends also did so as individuals. Britain Yearly Meeting is considering whether to sign it.

QARN members have also recently agreed to endorse a letter from The Detention Forum calling for a halt to the expansion of immigration detention. This letter will be sent to the members of the cross-party parliamentary inquiry into immigration detention, QARN member Bridget Walker told the Friend.
