Friends throughout Britain are preparing for Quaker Week 2017 and completing arrangements for events they are holding.

The Blue Idol Meeting in West Sussex has announced that on Friday 6 October there will be a special open day at the Meeting house from 10am to 4pm.

This will include a talk in the late morning on the ‘History of Blue Idol Meeting and William Penn’s life in turbulent times’.

Susan Bittleston, of Blue Idol Meeting, said: ‘The theme has particular resonance in the turbulent time we are experiencing now, both in Britain and more dramatically worldwide, when every news bulletin has at least one account of human suffering through war or natural disasters caused by climate change and the abuse of natural resources.’

She added: ‘William Penn spent much of his life in West Sussex and was the driving force behind the establishment of the Blue Idol Meeting, which continues today in the same historic building in Coolham.’
