Poetry workshop at The Pales
Stevie Krayer is to lead a poetry workshop in the oldest Meeting house in Wales in continuous use
A Quaker poet is to lead a poetry workshop at the historic Pales Meeting House near Llandegley in Wales.
Stevie Krayer will lead the workshop on the theme of ‘Special Places’ in English, but Welsh will be welcome. Her publications include three collections of poetry and she also co-edited, with the poet R V Bailey, an anthology of Quaker poets: A Speaking Silence.
The Pales was built in 1717 and is the oldest Quaker Meeting house in continuous use in Wales. The workshop will be on 24 April.
Bridget Cherry, a member of Ludlow Meeting who is on the management group of The Pales, told the Friend: ‘We hope Stevie will bring the experience she has of the process of writing poetry and encourage people to write.
‘Just the sight of the Pales and that feeling of being in nature is beautiful. It has being described as being a ‘thin place’’ where you feel closer to the spiritual. Maybe the place itself will help to put something into words.’
