Friends in Kent hosted a stall at the War and Peace Show near Paddock Wood, Kent last month.

The Quaker stall was one of only two peace stalls among 200 at the event, which ran from 24 to 28 July and included a world war two re-enactment area and stalls selling goods with a military or 1940s’ twist.

John Spencer, from West Kent Area Meeting, said the Quaker stall was ‘in the heart of the fair’ and ‘gently offered a shape for an alternative way’.

He told the Friend: ‘Every conversation gave me a thinking point, which has led to ministry. When a presence is created which is against the tide of opinion, something changes. People are forced to ignore, or to consider an alternative.’
