Three peace protestors, including Hull Quaker Sam Donaldson, have been ‘admonished’ by a Scottish court after taking part in a nonviolent blockade of the UK’s nuclear weapons storage facility in the summer.

Sam Donaldson appeared at Dumbarton’s Justice of Peace Court on 12 October alongside Brian Quail from Scotland and Angie Zelter from Wales. All three were arrested outside RNAD Coulport in West Scotland on 11 July and charged with breaching the peace.

Although they were found guilty, an admonition is the most lenient punishment a Scottish judge can impose.

Sam Donaldson said: ‘It’s crazy that three peaceful anti-nuke protestors can get charged with breaching the peace, while our government spends billions of taxpayers’ money on Trident, an evil system designed to commit mass murder of innocent civilians on an unimaginable scale.’

The trio were arrested just days after 122 nations, excluding Britain and the United States, signed a UN treaty condemning the development and possession of nuclear weapons.
