The recently-relocated Peace Museum in Bradford is starting the new year by refitting its new building. The museum showed off its new premises recently in the iconic Salts Mill, in the World Heritage village of Saltaire, Bradford.

‘The Mill has a permanent David Hockney exhibition, a bookshop, cafés, and several retail offerings, making it a major visitor attraction in the region,’ said George Penaluna, from Skipton Meeting, who attended the Open Day. ‘Still a gaping shell, Peace Museum staff showed visitors visualisations of the planned exhibitions and how they will flow through the new space. There will be an education room to host school and other groups, plus additional office accommodation. Storage for the Museum’s extensive collection will be provided elsewhere in the Mill.’

Shannen Johnson, the museum’s engagement officer, explained that fitting-out was due to start in January, with a target of opening the new exhibition in time for the summer holidays. Their online exhibitions and schools programme will continue in the meantime.
