Laurie Michaelis urges Friends to seek out signs of positive change

Last week, in Bonn, negotiators held their last round of talks before the Paris climate conference in early December. They must now hand over to politicians to make the decisions. Trust remains a major issue: while most governments want an agreement, there are huge differences on what it should contain. What is a fair distribution of emission cuts and adaptation efforts among countries? Should emission targets be legally binding? Should global warming be limited to 2°C or 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels? Should there be international compensation for ‘loss and damage’ caused by climate change?
