Oliver Robertson is to be the new head of witness and worship at Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM), it was announced at Meeting for Sufferings on 24 November.

He replaces Helen Drewery in the post. She leaves next spring after more than thirty years at BYM.

A one-time news reporter for the Friend, Oliver Robertson said: ‘I see this job as connecting up all the excellent work already done by the staff of BYM and supporting Quakers around the country in living full lives of faith, including putting that faith into action. I want to do my bit to help Quakers flourish.’

Currently with the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FoR), Oliver Robertson has worked at Penal Reform International (PRI) and the Quaker United Nations Office (QUNO) in Geneva and has been serving as the clerk of the Quaker Council for European Affairs (QCEA).

Paul Parker, recording clerk of BYM, said: ‘Oliver’s experience of Quaker work in Europe and at the UN, and his deep grounding in Quakerism at local and national level make him a great addition to the Management Meeting of BYM.’

Oliver Robertson is a member of Reading Meeting.
