NZ Quakers write to their prime minister
Working for zero carbon emissions
Members of the Yearly Meeting of Aotearoa/New Zealand have asked their prime minister to ensure that the country responds effectively to its environmental responsibilities, in particular the control of greenhouse gas emissions.
In a letter to the prime minister, John Key, Friends wrote: ‘It is time for the government to demonstrate publicly its commitment, leadership and initiative, and to engage the wider community, the public service and business in effective ways to reduce emissions to zero by mid century’.
They also stressed that the young people of New Zealand need faith in the country’s future and institutions.
