Quakers witness on climate

2025 was another year of lively Quaker climate witness, with campaigners highlighting the increasingly draconian sentences being handed down to protesters. The year got off to a good start when Scotland’s Court of Session ruled in January that the 2023 approval of the Rosebank oil field was unlawful, as it did not account for the emissions that would be caused by burning the field’s oil. The developers soon resubmitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for reconsideration.
