New Quaker music group
A new Quaker music group is beginning at Westminster Meeting
Westminster Meeting’s Mike Brooks hopes to start a new Quaker music group.
The new group will be open to musicians of all abilities. All instruments are welcome. The group’s focus will be improvisational and instrumental, rather than vocal.
Mike told the Friend: ‘I was interested in joining or starting a group that somehow explores music and spirituality. I looked around for a while but couldn’t find anything, so I thought I’d try setting up my own’. He added: ‘I decided it would be simplest to start with Quakers because this is what I know, being an attender at Westminster. I’ve no idea what’s going to happen – but I think it will be interesting.’
Among those to have expressed their interest so far are musicians who play oboe, flute, piano, guitar, viola and saxophone.
‘Anyone interested can contact me via Westminster Meeting,’ Mike said.
