A unique collection goes on display

by Tara Craig 27th November 2015

A unique archive documenting the Greenham Common Peace Camp women’s lives and campaigns was made available to the public for the first time at Berkshire Record Office on 17 November.

The Lynette Edwell Collection consists of primary source material entrusted to campaigner Lynette Edwell by Greenham women over a period of thirty years. A second collection will be housed at West Berkshire Museum, in Newbury. This includes a ‘Greenham Getaway’ (the tent designed by Quaker supporters for use at the camp), a hat, coat and megaphone used by Lynette Edwell, and badges, banners and pictures.

The archive contains a wide range of publications and memorabilia, including reports and letters, scrapbooks, posters, camp newsletters and press cuttings.
