New exhibitions for Loving Earth Project
The project is ‘proving to be very helpful for individuals and groups wanting to take concrete action on the environment but not sure what to do next’.
The Quaker arts initiative the Loving Earth Project is now gearing up for a new year of exhibitions and events.
Linda Murgatroyd, clerk of the Quaker Arts Network (QAN), said that displays will be hosted at Great St Mary’s Church and Michaelhouse Café in Cambridge, as well as St Lawrence’s Church in Chorley this month. ‘These will be followed in the spring by a series of displays in parts of Fife (Scotland), Ireland and Cumbria. Invitations to exhibit elsewhere for dates through to end 2023, are now invited.’
She added: ‘Over 400 textile panels have now been made, by people across Britain and beyond – from Sweden to Uganda to California and Hawaii, by Quakers, school groups, craft groups and many others; many of them can be seen on the project’s online gallery. A new set of beautiful greeting cards and the project’s first little book are also about to be published.’
These can all be seen on the Loving Earth Project website.
The exhibition at the Scottish Maritime Museum was identified by online listings source The List as one of the ‘best cultural events in Scotland during COP26’.
