New cluster takes shape
A new Quaker Life Network Cluster for librarians has been launched
The Quaker Life Network has launched a Quaker Meeting Librarians Cluster. The initiative aims to enable Friends who run their Meeting libraries to do so with confidence.
The cluster will initially involve an email discussion facilitated by the team at Friends House Library. Topics covered in the first few days ranged from cataloguing to ‘weeding’, the practice of bringing a tired collection back to life by appraising and renewing stock.
Friends House librarian Tabitha Driver told the Friend that she would like to see the group cover topics such as ‘Meeting library reading groups, non-book resources, display ideas and what libraries can do for new attenders’.
She added that the majority of Britain Yearly Meeting’s Local Meetings have libraries, as do some Area Meetings. The new cluster is open to anyone involved with running a Meeting library.
