More redundancies at Friends House
'Their departure is a great loss and we wish them the very best for the future.'
There were more job losses at Friends House last month as Quakers continue their financial restructuring and shift to more local working. Anne van Staveren, media relations officer, and Adam Bambury, communications manager, recently took redundancy and left. Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM) is now recruiting for a media officer, video editor and three local development workers.
Grace da Costa, public affairs and media manager for BYM, told the Friend that no other redundancies or recruitments are expected in the near future.
Over a year ago, thirty-one Friends House staff members opted to take voluntary redundancy after a consultation period.
At the time, Paul Parker, recording clerk, called the departures ‘a great loss’. ‘We value all our staff as both colleagues and friends. Their departure is a great loss and we wish them the very best for the future. We’re grateful to them and all staff for their support as we cope with this massive change in our income.
‘In the year ahead, we will need to build back our income and identify further savings to steer us towards a balanced budget in 2023.’
