Quaker Social Action runs financial literacy classes for children

by Tara Craig 24th July 2015

Quaker Social Action (QSA) has collaborated with the Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership to teach children about financial literacy.

The collaboration, entitled the Abacus Project, ran for six weeks in June and July at Old Palace School in Bromley-by-Bow. Workshops covered practical money-related matters and issues to do with the psychology of money. Parents joined students for some sessions.

Delberth Hemley is a member of QSA’s Made of Money finance project. He said of the Abacus Project: ‘We thought that the idea of being a communication bridge between parents’ and children’s understanding of money would be useful.’
