Almost forty Quaker Meeting houses are taking part in this year’s Heritage Open Weekend and Open House London Weekend.

Meeting houses participating in Heritage Open Weekend, from 10 to 13 September, range from the 300-year-old Aylesbury Meeting House to Kingston Quaker Centre, opened in 2014 and known for its environmentally-friendly design.

A number of Meetings have organised exhibitions. Visitors to Colchester Meeting House can see ‘The World is My Country’, a collection of posters highlighting ‘the untold history of people who opposed the first world war’. Visitors to Dorking Meeting House can see ‘Thank you Bim’ – War Victims Relief work in France – 110 years on’.

The following weekend is Open House London Weekend. Among several Quaker buildings opening their doors to the public between 19 and 20 September is Friends House, which will be welcoming London Open House visitors to the refurbished Large Meeting House for the first time.
