Meeting for Sufferings was told of recent developments towards conscientious objection to military taxation.

The Taxes for Peace Bill is a private members’ bill that will be introduced by Ruth Cadbury MP, a Quaker, in the House of Commons. The provisional date for the Bill to be heard is 19 July.

The Bill has been supported by the QPSW peace and disarmament programme. One of the QPSW UK peaceworkers has been placed in the organisation Conscience: Taxes for Peace not War.
