Meeting for Sufferings: Financial activities

Peter Ullathorne delivered a report on BYM finances

by Elinor Smallman 11th April 2014

Peter Ullathorne, treasurer of Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM), spoke to the ‘Review of financial activities for 2013’ and described the position as ‘reasonably robust’.  He highlighted a new ‘project funding proposal’, which will see any legacy income above the budgeted £1.5 million per year made available to fund ‘distinctive Quaker work’. Projects will undergo a bidding process and, at present, proposals will come from BYM departments, supported by minuted committee decisions.

Peter also talked about the Co-operative Bank. He confirmed that BYM is still with the bank but that this would be reviewed in the coming months. However, as many Friends are involved with the Co-op, Quaker Peace & Social Witness has been preparing an information sheet regarding the current situation, to be made available to treasurers in an upcoming mailing.
