Meeting for Sufferings: Amendments to Quaker faith & practice
'One Friend objected to a sentence about the role of trustees.'
Amendments to the book of discipline were simple to approve, said clerk Margaret Bryan, since Yearly Meeting had decided they should happen. But one Friend objected to a sentence about the role of trustees – the Friend seemed to have some expertise in the matter. The phrasing needed to be re-examined with some urgency, he said.
Unfortunately, the objection related to a piece of text already present in Qf&p, and so couldn’t be changed at this Meeting. The Book of Discipline Revision Committee was working on this, said Paul Parker, recording clerk, but he would be in touch with the Friend to discuss further.
