Margaret Fell’s 400th birthday
The Quaker Tapestry held a 400th birthday party for Margaret Fell
The Quaker Tapestry held a 400th birthday party for Margaret Fell on 30 April and also celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the Tapestry in Kendal. The event, which was held in the Meeting house in Kendal, commemorated the life and witness of one of the leaders of early Quakerism. It was attended by staff, volunteers and people connected with the Tapestry, and invited Friends and guests.
Jane Pearson, manager at Swarthmoor Hall, gave a talk and presentation. Bridget Guest, the manager of The Quaker Tapestry, and Roy Wilcocks also performed the Margaret Fell song.
Jane Pearson said: ‘After the song we enjoyed a marvellous birthday cake that depicted Margaret Fell and her family. It was made by staff in the Quaker Tapestry café.’
She explained that Swarthmoor Hall is also planning a variety of events this October, during Quaker Week, to celebrate the life of Margaret Fell.
