Quaker Concern for Animals (QCA) were among around 10,000 who took part in the march through London to launch A People’s Manifesto for Wildlife. The march, on 22 September, was coordinated by TV naturalist Chris Packham, who drafted the manifesto along with seventeen experts. It calls on the government to bring forward a series of measures to halt the destruction of Britain’s natural environment.

Martin Layton, a QCA member, said: ‘Despite its vital importance, our natural environment is under serious threat. Therefore, we need to broaden participation in the campaign to protect it. I’d urge Friends to read the Manifesto and consider the practical steps they can make.’

QCA members also distributed leaflets explaining the link between the recent badger culls and the dairy industry.

Many blame the decline of British wildlife on the rise of intensive farming and the destruction of natural habitats.
