Westminster Meeting temporarily moves to King's College Chapel

by The Friend Newsdesk 7th June 2013

Friends visiting central London this summer will have a chance to see the interior of King’s College Chapel.

Westminster Meeting House will be closed for two months, from Monday 1 July until Monday 2 September, while essential building repairs are being done, and the Meeting is moving, temporarily, to King’s College chapel.

The repairs will improve ‘accessible and safe passage’ through the building and uphold Friends’ commitment to sustainability.

Friends, during July and August, will meet for worship in the chapel, located within the campus of Kings College London, Aldwych, between The Strand and Fleet Street.

Meetings for Worship will be on Tuesday (1 to 1.30pm), on Wednesday (6.15 to 7pm) and on Sunday (11am and noon).

Joseph Nuttgens designed, created and installed the stained glass windows in King’s College Chapel. His studio is in the Chilterns near High Wycombe and his wife Pamela is a Friend who worships at High Wycombe meeting. Joseph (Joe) has given a talk to our members about his work and he would always be happy to submit an article to The Friend about his work or speak to the Westminster Friends who will be worshipping and, I suspect, gazing at his brilliant work over the next few months.
