The chief executive of The Retreat in York retires

by Tara Craig 10th June 2016

Jenny McAleese has retired from The Retreat, the York mental health facility.

Jenny joined The Retreat in 1996 as finance director. She became chief executive eighteen months later. The Retreat’s finances improved significantly during her two decades at the helm. It was incorporated as a charity, and its governance structure was adapted to meet modern day challenges and requirements.

Barrie Oldham, previously chief executive of The Disabilities Trust, has joined as interim chief executive. The Retreat will appoint a new chief executive later this year.

Director of finance and facilities Robert Brownlow said of Jenny: ‘She will be an extremely challenging act to follow and we hope that the person who takes up this post will bring the same mix of caring and extensive business experience that Jenny brought to the role.’
