The Sugar Loaf, The Blorenge and The Skirrid are hills well known to walkers. We saw them on the way. Coming through the Usk Valley or the Brecon Beacons, glimpsing in passing remnants of battles – Raglan castle, Abergavenny castle; or skirting Blaenavon, a World Heritage Site for industry, as we came from all directions to Llanfoist. Meeting of Friends in Wales (MFW) was gathering there on a fine day at the end of June. It was good to have such a lovely setting. A Peace Garden close by had been created by a local Friend. Those who wanted to could walk there to eat their lunch. What a wonderful means of outreach, people thought.
