Quakers in Lichfield have made a statement in solidarity with Muslim friends

by Rebecca Hardy 24th August 2018

Lichfield Friends have released a statement in support of their ‘Muslim friends’.

The statement, which has been posted on Twitter and Facebook on 12 August, says: ‘Our Quaker Meeting for Worship sends warm and respectful greetings to all our Muslim friends at this time of pain and shame for others’ public words, which we see as deeply insulting.

‘We hope that you will feel upheld by your many friends in Lichfield, as well as the wider public who may not have personal acquaintance with people who have chosen your mode of clothing.

‘Our Quaker testimony to the equality of all in the sight of God and humanity leads us to express this solidarity with you.’
