Letting our lives speak

Sarah Dodgson reports on some of the issues and questions raised at a recent meeting of the Quaker Lesbian and Gay Fellowship in Leicester

The Quaker Lesbian and Gay Fellowship (QLGF) is presently looking at the broad issues of ethics, domestic violence, how to rear children and the objectification of the male body in gay culture.

QLGF met at Leicester Meeting House on Saturday 18 October 2014 and continued our study of sexual ethics in our divergent community by looking at Friends, family and community. We met in the Spirit to share experience and let our lives speak. The accounts given were personal, passionate and difficult to hear. We were challenged to explore whether the community that is QLGF has a unique message to distil, and relate onwards, both as Quakers and as members of the LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex) community.
