From unity and liberty to saying nothing

Unity, liberty and charity

I was delighted to see the recent inclusion on the letters page of the well-loved phrase: ‘In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity’.

I have long regretted its omission from the front cover and it is well placed with our letters – a timely reminder that all our views deserve respect and proper consideration. Perhaps even more importantly, when I write expressing my own strongly held views, I am reminded that others might have a different perspective and unity may well be found in the space between. Thank you Friend!
