From online comments to upholding
Online comments
Is it time to withdraw the comments section of the online version of the Friend? It seems to give an opportunity for people to vent their anger at each other, which is quite shocking, in a Quaker publication.
If those commenting had to pause, and write a letter, they may write in a more calm manner.
Or should there be a more active moderator for the comments?
As Isaac Penington said, ‘Our life is love, and peace, and tenderness.’

Letters
Might I suggest all letters and articles in the Friend be accepted subject to their being allied to our Quaker testimonies? Some published letters have not reflected these testimonies, and some have been veiled criticisms that are anti-immigrant, gender discriminatory, and pro-violence toward different groups of people.
Quaker values encourage generosity to strangers, the equality of all people, and a rejection of violence in wars and all its manifestations.
