From grieving to letting go

Grieving

I was sorry to hear of our Friend’s experience following a recent bereavement (16 November). It is always a hard time and remembering the death of a dear grandmother I grieved for her and also my place in her community. The article is a timely reminder for us all how important cards, homemade soup and scones are at times like this, the practical help which means so much. Words are sometimes hard to find, but after another bereavement, the gentle touch on a shoulder from my dentist meant more than any words, compared with the cheeriness of a health visitor, which left me confused. I do hope our Friend will gradually find her way through this time and, in the title of a wonderful anthology compiled by Cruse, find that ‘All in the end is harvest’.
