Kingston Quaker Centre scoops architecture award
Quaker Meeting house wins architectural award
The new Kingston Quaker Centre, designed by Tectus Architects, has won the ACE/Royal Institute of British Architects award for religious architecture.
The centre, which opened in 2014, shared the award with The Chapel at Shepherd’s Law. The award was presented at an event in the chapel of King’s College London. Members of the Kingston Meeting House’s project committee were in the audience.
Graham Torr, of the Kingston Meeting House Committee said: ‘Announcing the award, the chair of judges described how the panel were so deeply moved by the meeting room that even their most loquacious member sat in silence without being told to do so.’
