Installation of stained glass panels

Kingston Friends mark museum loan

Installation of stained glass panels

by Tara Craig and Ian Kirk-Smith 22nd January 2016

The installation at Kingston Quaker Centre of stained glass panels on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum will be marked by a ceremony on 4 February.

The panels, ‘Sister Moon… Mother Earth’ by artist Graham Jones, are on loan to the centre as part of the Art and Christianity Enquiry Trust and Royal Institute of British Architects’ (ACE/RIBA) prize for religious architecture. The panels are hand-blown flashed glass acid-etched with enamelling and silver stain.

Kingston Quaker Centre shared a ‘category’ prize with The Chapel at Shepherd’s Law.

Meeting clerk Fred Ashmore and the building’s architect, John Langley of Tectus Architects, will speak. Guests will be offered a tour of the new centre and ‘a nice piece of cake’.
