Kindlers launch new booklet
Fourth booklet launched at Britain Yearly Meeting
A highlight of the Kindlers interest group on Saturday was the launching of Answering that of God: Discovering Spirit Within by Peter Parr, the fourth booklet in the current series. Peter Parr introduced the new booklet and gave a short, inspiring talk on some of its reflections.
Over forty Friends heard of Kindler developments and about the work of the team of six who will have completed fifty-eight all-day Saturday workshops around Britain.
Kindlers have booked the whole of Woodbrooke in October 2013 for an ambitious conference – Re-visioning Spiritual Nurture. Alec Davision explained: ‘The aim is to explore how the Society could develop a nationally trained team of gifted Friends who, from regional bases, would work in Local Meetings – a latter-day version of Travelling Friends’.
Alec added: ‘They have found a hunger and thirst for spiritual nourishment nationwide. Friends want to know each other in eternal matters, which silent worship often inhibits. Newcomers want a lively community of explorers of the Spirit. Clearly our current pattern of making this the responsibility of elders has difficulties, especially in Meetings which have abandoned elders or where elders are young in their Quakerism and inexperienced in spiritual practices.’
