A month of daily direct action against Trident renewal

Trident Ploughshares has designated June 2016 a month of daily direct action against Trident renewal.
The campaigning group has called on supporters to ‘resist, protest and disrupt’ the renewal of the Trident nuclear weapons system in a series of ‘creative nonviolent actions’ at Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) Burghfield.
In addition to peace campaigners, the charity is encouraging anti-austerity activists to oppose the government’s decision to invest in Trident rather than in healthcare, education and welfare. Trident Ploughshares has also called on climate change activists to take part, claiming that ‘global climate change and nuclear weapons are both existential threats, threatening the future of life on this planet’.
