A criminal, not a nationalist, act

Clare Bat Dimyon responds to the shooting of young people in Tel Aviv who were coming to terms with their sexuality My elation and joy at hearing that Britain Yearly Meeting had decided to adopt the same processes for the reporting of same-sex partnerships died less than twenty-four hours later with news of a shooting in Tel Aviv. Set against the sheer volumes of violence in Israel/Palestine, two dead and fifteen injured might hardly register. This act was described by the Israeli authorities as ‘a criminal not a nationalist act’, a curious recognition of Palestinian aspirations.
