Irish Friends join in environmental prayer
Friends in Ireland take part in ecumenical service
Irish Quakers were among those who took part in a national ecumenical prayer service to mark the approach of the Paris climate talks.
The service, which was attended by Irish president Michael D Higgins, took place at St Teresa’s church, Clarendon Street, Dublin, on 25 November. The event included music and readings. A young Friend read two passages from Quaker writings, while another Friend presented a copy of the Quaker Climate Statement. Eco-Congregation Ireland, Christian Aid and Trócaire organised the service, which was supported by the Stop Climate Chaos coalition.
