Inspiring women

Quaker women let their lives speak

by Symon Hill 25th February 2011

Three Quakers are among the 100 most inspiring women in the Midlands, according to a list published by Oxfam ahead of International Women’s Day.

Maud Grainger was recognised for developing a project on faith and climate change.

Lizz Roe was praised for putting her faith into action through a new challenge each month, including buying nothing for a month or living on a pound a day.

Pam Lunn was cited for creating the Good Lives project at the Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre, which links spiritual, practical and political issues around climate change.

While grateful for the recognition, Maud Grainger told the Friend that there are ‘millions of inspiring people’ and that ‘every day is inspiring’.
