High sales of white poppies
Approximately 100,000 white poppies have been sold
2017 has been another year for high sales of white poppies, the Peace Pledge Union has reported. Almost 100,000 had been sold as of 8 November. This is the fourth year running in which sales have been around the 100,000 mark.
The last four years have seen higher sales of white poppies than any year since they were introduced, in 1933. The biggest rise in demand for white poppies in 2017 was after the Royal British Legion launched its red poppy campaign in October.

Dear Editor .... I noticed more positive understanding press reports, this year too. many congratulations Peace Pledge Union. I hope next year Peace Pledge Union might consider other formats e.g. Wrist bands, larger white poppies, metal poppies and knitted poppies. Maybe Quakers might knit a “white and red mixed” poppy for those of us who wear both! Best wishes David Fish Coventry Quaker Meeting
