Healing terrorism
'Healing terrorism' by Elizabeth Angas
Today I am the doorkeeper – welcoming all who cross the threshold.
Greeting each one coming to our Quaker Meeting. Recognising the divine in each person.
Responding from that same ‘that of God’ which dwells within me.
In us all is that holy love, able to be given as a gift, free at every country’s open border.
As the planet belongs to us all. We, who are each an incarnation – a spirit on Earth in human form.
I shake each one’s hand, as an opportunity for contact healing, knowing I am a conduit,
Able to be a channel for God’s healing and creative power, at the door of our Meeting.
As our fingers touch, whatever needs they have (body, mind, feelings or spirit) will be met.
Freely given from that divine source, holistically – no matter who they are, nor what they believe.
Some wish to greet me with ‘Namaste’ – ‘I bow to the divine in you’.
That respectful salutation of Anjali Mudra or Pranasama – a sign of goodwill.
Hands pressed together, palms touching, fingers pointing upward, thumbs close to the chest.
For the divine spark in each of us is located in the heart – chakra, some believe.
Thus we acknowledge the other’s soul from our own inner spirit.
Or maybe we are greeting God – the great guru in us all?
Not all who come through the door are Quakers. Nor do I know everyone’s name.
Some are strangers who have never been before, perhaps refugees from other lands.
But to all I give a welcome – conveying God’s love (without actually saying so).
Yet somehow hopefully that message will come through.
We have no enemies, no dislikes, for all are equal, all accepted as a ‘that of God’.
So, my greeting is an equitable one to that unique specialness of each person.
Suppose a terrorist walked in – intent on killing us all. Yet I wouldn’t know this.
Would the love of God, conveyed in my doorkeeping, be enough to heal him, preventing this?
Be enough to cleanse his intent for evil doing?
No individual as a ‘that of God’ is wicked as a person – only their deeds are wrong.
They have been ‘radicalised’ – a form of mental illness.
They believe they are doing right and will be rewarded in Heaven.
So, this brainwashing needs to be compassionately understood.
Maybe one day we can change those ideas with deconditioning.
But now at the door of my Meeting, all I can do is give God’s love by holding in the Light.
Whilst having faith in the Holy Spirit to be shown what to do.
We all stand at the door of our planet – the threshold of our Earth – greeting everyone with love.
Now in your meditation time, pray for the healing of each terrorist.
Do that door keeping everyday – believing Thy Will Be Done.
This will overcome the fear and helplessness feelings for situations like Manchester.
Send love and healing to all terrorists, for they, too, are each a ‘that of God’.
