Friends in Halifax played a significant part in the fifth annual local Faith Walk that took place as part of Interfaith Week.

Twenty participants set off on 22 November from St Paul’s Church in Halifax after a tour and a short talk. They walked to the nearby Kingdom Hall where a Jehovah’s Witness spoke of his church’s beliefs. The group then walked to Rhodes Street Mosque for tea and a talk on the Muslim way of life.

The walk ended at the Quaker Meeting house on Clare Road where Lynda Moran spoke on the beginnings of Quakerism. Maureen Thorpe read 24.04 from Quaker faith & practice.

The walk was organised by Calderdale Interfaith Council in a bid to encourage people to ‘meet people of other faiths and visit places of worship in a friendly and welcoming manner and learn briefly about different faiths in the locality’, Lynda Moran explained to the Friend. ‘I think we achieved this, and I hope that next year we can encourage more people to take part in this uplifting experience,’ she added.
