Greening of Jesus Lane Meeting House
Sixteen solar panels have been installed on the roof of the Cambridge Jesus Lane Meeting House
Friends in Cambridge are celebrating the successful completion of a project that has made their Meeting house more sustainable. Sixteen solar panels were installed on the roof of the Cambridge Jesus Lane Meeting House on Thursday 27 February as the last phase of an ambitious ‘greening programme’.
The previous phases included incorporating new double-glazing on the large Meeting room windows and added insulation on the flat roofs. These developments were completed in 2013.
Delays from the local planning department meant that the solar panels were not installed at the same time as the double-glazing and added insulation. The development at Jesus Lane cost close to £45,000. A sum of £17,500 was raised from AmeyCespa as a landfill tax grant through the Cambridgeshire Community Fund.
