Oliver Robertson reflects on testimonies to the grace of God

by Oliver Robertson 14th March 2014

The first time I knowingly came across testimonies to the grace of God as shown in the lives of deceased Friends was in Quaker News. For a period until the mid-2000s, it had a pullout supplement containing recently received testimonies and, in the first one I read, one aspect of one testimony struck me in particular: ‘The first cheque in every chequebook was used as a contribution to a charity’. It was a simple, practical thing that anyone could do and that showed in a small way how to live closer to God. It was also what made me appreciate the value of testimonies when Friends die.
