Gleanings: Living with diversity

When religions engage with sustainability, they often start by revisiting scripture. Christians and Jews may refer to Psalm 24, which asserts that ‘the Earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof’. Quakers have found much in the writings of early Friends to support a connection with nature and a duty of care and nonviolence towards it.

The next step is an authoritative pronouncement, whether in a papal encyclical or a minute from Britain Yearly Meeting, calling all disciples of the faith to act. But where do we go after that?
