Gleanings: A simple lifestyle freely chosen?

Laurie Michaelis reflects on his experience of finding a balance in his relationship with food

The British government regularly surveys public attitudes on climate change and energy. Two-thirds of respondents say they are ‘very’ or ‘fairly’ concerned about climate change. Four-fifths support the use of renewable energy. They agree that people who fly should bear the cost of the environmental damage, but they do not like the idea of increasing taxes on car users. When it comes to their own behaviour, most people feel they are doing enough for the environment and do not want to change.
